Kentish Smugglers and Spectres

1600  Check in to a "suitably creaky hotel" in Canterbury.  

1930  Candlelit river tour with our spectral storyteller!  followed by     dinner overlooking the River Stour and ducking stool. 
            Bed and breakfast at your hotel

Day Two Saturday

Free morning in Canterbury a chance to explore the dark entrance of Canterbury Cathedral (hope not to see Nelly Cook's ghost)

1230  Your guide will meet you to conduct you on your afternoon and evening tour.  A journey back in time discovering the 
            wicked and often grisly deeds of the smugglers of yore and perhaps encountering some of the restless souls, who
            still linger in the Kentish Marshes.

1300  Pub lunch in haunted inn in a picturesque mediaeval village square.  After lunch, you will ramble through the villages skirting
           Romney Marsh and as the tale of the Aldington Blues unfolds, you'll  visit churchyards and haunted sites collecting clues
            to help you solve the riddles in your evening quiz.

1600  Visit to the ancient Cinque Port of Rye, headquarters of the infamous Hawkhurst gang and site of the gruesome murder 
            committed by Butcher Breads and home to more than one phantom monk!
            Walking tour/ghost hunt with your guide around the cobbled alleyways and churchyard of Rye.  Visit to the Rye Town Model

            As dusk falls cross the Rother levels and old sea cliffs through the Isle of Oxney and back into Kent to Pluckley,
            pronounced "bewitched" by the National Trust.  The village claims to be the most haunted in Britain with 12 "official" ghosts.

1900  Watch out for the Highwayman or headless horseman as we follow the haunted road to supper in a country pub.  Time for
           a little wine and wisdom before returning to Canterbury.
           Bed and breakfast.

Day Three Sunday                                                                                                                       

1000  Our guide will meet you and take you on a hunt for the smugglers and spectres of the North 
            Kent  coast and marshes.

           Our route takes us via Whitstable and Reculver and a haunted theatre in Thanet and stops    
           for Sunday lunch in a seaside hotel with a living museum and the ambiance of a bygone era.

            After lunch continue round the coast as we say farewell to the ghosts of Kent and head for 
            home.

Prices depend on group size, point of departure and your choice of accommodation and menus. 
However, the above itinerary fully inclusive of all meals, entrances, guided visits and coach transport from London throughout the weekend is offered at £236.00 per person based on 25 persons.

A Scream of a Weekend Down in Sussex!

Day One Friday

Check in to your warm and friendly hotel In East Sussex by 17:30

1900  The "Antient Town" of Rye, an original Cinque Port is the setting for our evening stroll back through time.
            Hear of Royal visits, smugglers and ghosts and even a grisly murder!  Supper in a haunted pub.
            Bed and breakfast at your hotel.

Day Two Saturday

            Free morning for shopping and sightseeing or stroll out to Rye Harbour and Camber Castle.

1400  Depart for an afternoon guided excursion across the Romney Marsh, following the trail of the 'Aldington Blues' the   
            notorious 19th Century smuggling gang and into Pluckley which claims to be the most haunted village in the UK.
            After an aperitif in a country inn return to your hotel.

             An evening of murder and mystery staged during your dinner served in your hotel.  Your guests will be divided into teams     
             and invited to solve the deadly 'Who Dunnit'!  Which unfolds before your eyes.  There will be three questions to answer: 
             'WHO committed the murder' HOW they did it and WHY?

              The evening starts with a scripted scene featuring events, which took place before the murder.  Audience will be 
               introduced to the  victim and suspects and given plenty of clues.  After much super sleuthing, teams are invited to submit 
               their solutions.
              A bottle of champagne for the winning team.
              At the end of the evening (at your own peril) Bed and Breakfast at your hotel.

Day Three Sunday

              After a leisurely breakfast we take you on a optional tour of "1066" country with visits to the Smugglers Adventure or, Battle 
              Abbey, Bodiam Castle or journey aboard the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
              Sunday lunch can be arranged in a traditional English pub.
              Thoroughly spooked and mystified depart for home.

Guide price for the above itinerary for all services provided from Friday evening till Sunday morning is £245.00 per person based on 16 persons.  

Please note this is an exclusive custom made programme and the price will vary depending upon your group size, choice of accommodation.

A different kind of murder mystery evening can be arranged or incorporated into a weekend break at various venues throughout East Kent.  Your group can  feel part of a theatrical experience and discover a little of what it might have been like in 1800's Paris or 1920's seaside resort, 1930's Hollywood or 1970's casino.  These weekends can extend upon the theme by including behind the scene theatre tours or exploring the James Bond trail in Kent or a taste of "l'Autre Cote" as we whizz you across to France for a little shopping, sightseeing and some good food and wine.

 

Haunts and Horrors in York

Friday

1800  Check into a hotel in central York
            Evening ghost walk followed by supper and a visit to The York Dungeon where you will encounter more than 2000 years of 
            bloody history, tales of witchcraft, plague, highway men, torture and ghosts will leave you feeling unnerved and in need of 
            some reviving spirits of a more earthly kind!
            Bed and Breakfast in your hotel

Saturday

1030   Morning walk "Graveyard, coffin and plague tour" 2000 years of corps disposal visiting York's historic graveyards, execution 
            and plague sites.
            Lunch at your leisure and afternoon free for shopping and sightseeing.

1900   Depart River Ghost Cruise aboard this special boat where you will hear anecdotes from the costumed story teller 
            accompanied by spirits at the bar!
            Continue your tour of historic York pubs with supper in a haunted pub and the chance to chat to a gentleman who will 
            enthrall you with his description of a major ghost sighting in this most ancient of English cities.
            Bed and breakfast.

 

Sunday

1000  Optional excursion to the York Castle Museum home to the famous jail where Dick Turpin spent his final days before 
            his execution, or to Yorvik the Viking Museum or just relax a while before wending your way homewood.
