Civil weddings take place in the Palazzo Vecchio, located in one of the world’s greatest piazzas – Piazza della Signoria.
Weddings are performed in the inner Sala Rossa (Red Hall ), which is an incredible specimen of Renaissance decoration and furnishing: Large gold mirrors, red drapes, antique chandeliers and gilded chairs upholstered in red silk and velvet. The hall evokes a sense of nobility and awe to those getting married there. Only Civil Weddings are allowed and the ceremony is performed by the Mayor of Florence or the Civil Registrar.
Weddings can take place all year round on Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday mornings. The ceremony lasts for 20 minutes. You are invited to add your own vows, poems or readings, and add beautiful floral arrangements to your specification and requirements. The hall accommodates up to 40 guests. Classical music is allowed. We offer English speaking assistance in the location.
Please note that British nationals should plan to arrive in Florence at least two days in advance as it is necessary to present a sworn declaration to the Civil Registrar two days before the wedding.
You can fly directly to Florence from the UK or choose to take one of the low cost airlines to Pisa ( ask us for details ) You can easily travel from Pisa to Florence by train, and you arrive at Santa Maria Novella, the centrally situated railways station. We offer a wide selection of hotels in Florence itself as well as villas / apartments and country hotels within a half an hour to an hour’s drive from the citycentre
Florence, of course, is a wonderful base for a romantic Honeymoon as well as providing a fantastic opportunity for wedding guests enjoying a city break. It is also possible to arrange Protestant Ceremonies in Florence in the famous St James Church, a beautiful 18th century Gothic church, located in the heart of the city. – A wonderful setting where time seems to have stood still since Renaissance times. Weddings can take place from Monday to Saturday, all year round, in both mornings and afternoons. There is an English-speaking priest available, gospel choir, and organist, as well as any English speaking assistance which might be needed during the ceremony. The beautiful church will accommodate up to 200 guests seated.
You may choose flowers to suit your colour scheme, preferences and requirements to decorate the altar.
This is a wonderful setting for Protestant wedding ceremonies, Blessings, Vow Renewals. Please note that a separate legal ceremony may be necessary, and British nationals should plan to arrive in Florence two days before the wedding ( USA citizens should arrive 3 days before the ceremony )
